To My Angel, Once Upon A Time I Loved…

I loved a man I thought was the one

The one I was meant for,

Who could be replaced by none

I thought I could never let him go

We were to be bonded forever,

I just couldn’t say no

Soon my nights became haunted,

Later on followed by my day

I began to doubt my love for him,

Not knowing why I felt this way

I thought it was love I felt,

Throughout the years of heartbreak I endured

I thought if I fooled myself,

My lonely heart would be cured

For years I suffered,

Wondering what I was missing

I asked God for an answer,

Hoping that he was listening

God did answer my prayer,

He sent me a wonderful angel so great

An angel who showed me what real love is,

So real, it just had to be fate

Two souls can only feel this way,

Unless it was meant to be

Spending forever with my angel,

Is a future I can easily see

My angel is delicate

Fragile, afraid, and has fears

He fears my shameful past,

Afraid I may bring him tears

But my angel mustn’t fear

Never has anyone given me so much pleasure

He is the only one for me always,

So his love is something I will forever treasure.

About shatteredwishes

I am in my late-thirties just trying to figure out life in a big city. "When in life you are handed lemons, make a vodka martini." "When I am happy I enjoy the music, but when I am sad I understand the lyrics."

    • Thank you so much for appreciating my work like this, it really warms my heart. I actually haven’t written any poetry in a while, like I said to another reader, that came from something I found that i had written when I was much younger. But thank you so much for kind words, I think I am going to write some more poetry soon. ❤
